Video Poker Rules

Video Poker

Video poker is based on five-card draw poker. It first became popular in the mid 1970’s and it was a combination of a television like monitor and a solid state central processing unit. Today, you can play video poker online via your laptop or desktop computer. Video poker rules are quite simple to learn and the game is a firm favourite among online casino gamers.

You would play the game by placing a bet and selecting the deal button. You are then given virtual cards and will have the opportunity to get rid of one or more of them in exchange for new ones from a virtual deck. If the hand played matches one of the winning combinations, you will then win the game of video poker.

The amount of money you win playing video poker will depend on the pay table. The pay table will allocate a pay-out based on how rare the hand played is and the decision of the operator.

There are some online casinos that tie their video poker games to progressive jackpots. This would then encourage players to place maximum bets and play more frequently. Progressive jackpots offer players the opportunity to win a massive amount of money.

Video Poker Rules

Once you have been dealt replacement cards for the ones you have discarded, the hand is evaluated. The best scoring hand is a Royal Flush which would consist of a Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace all of the same suit. The next highest ranking hands would be a Straight Flush, a Four of a Kind, a Full House, a Flush, a Straight, a Three of a Kind, a Two Pair and then the lowest ranking hand would be a Pair.
